JNSweeney reaches it's 10th customer!!!

In celebration of the success of my JNSweeney shop, on etsy, reaching it's 10th customer, I am offering a free $10 gift certificate to the 11th JNSweeney customer to show my appreciation. This gift certificate can be redeemed at either one of my etsy stores... the JNSweeney etsy shop which features handmade & vintage, childrens & juniors stuff, and accessories or the sproutsmaternity etsy shop which features handmade items that are uniquely tailored to a mom-to-be. Happy shopping!

The first fruits of the season!

Last night I felt as though I took a little trip to the country in times past, where days seem to go on forever and no-one seemed to be in a hurry to be anywhere. A time where people used to stop and smell the flowers, climb trees, dig in the dirt and stroll through the creek until it got dark.

Country living 50 or 60 years ago was so much more simpler, you didn't have to worry about the ads on TV or be brainwashed by the media, you could just enjoy the simple company of your family without the need of electronics to entertain you. You didn't need that expensive car, the plasma screen TV or the weekend getaways you went into debt for to make you happy. You were happy if you could just go out for a walk in the evening to watch the thunderstorms rolling in after a hard day of work, or sit by the fire with the family and a nice book. *Sigh* Boy have times changed!

The other night after much anticipation and care, I was able to harvest the first of my own crop just before dinner. It was so nice to just stop and pick the beans that had taken about 2 months to grow. It was so neat to plant the seeds, watch them germinate and finally grow into plants that could bear fruit.

I can't wait to see how the next batch will turn out!

Lemon Blossom Apron for Shannon.....

The sewing room has been quite busy, with projects ranging from breast feeding clothes, a green jersey maternity dress, and a pair of maternity stretchy gaucho pants for my sprouts store. I'll be posting them in the store soon, I'm just waiting on a few notions to come in the mail.

Among my other projects, I've finished another apron for a friend of mine, using the Lemon Blossom fabric and some lime green bias tape.

I found this vintage lime green bias tape on etsy at the BennettsTreasures shop. It was just what I was looking for, so I decided to purchase it and use it for my friends apron. Here is the finished product...

Since these aprons are one size fits all, I decided to add the one that I did earlier to my sprouts maternity shop.

A Lemon Blossom apron similar to this one is posted in the store.

Food Team Appreciation BBQ...

Last week my husband and I hosted an appreciation BBQ at our house for all the people who serve on the food team each week. Unfortunately with it being memorial day weekend, most of the people were out of town, but it still turned out pretty good.

The day before we prepared by cleaning the BBQ, because there was so much black grease all over the stainless steel. I first tried to use some stainless steel cleaner and a sponge, but it didn't seem to work... then I pulled out the Magic eraser sponge and the results were amazing... well you can see for yourself.... (unfortunately I don't have a before picture, but you can get the idea... this is after 5 months of about 2-3 meals per week usage... after magic sponge cleaning)
