The first fruits of the season!

Last night I felt as though I took a little trip to the country in times past, where days seem to go on forever and no-one seemed to be in a hurry to be anywhere. A time where people used to stop and smell the flowers, climb trees, dig in the dirt and stroll through the creek until it got dark.

Country living 50 or 60 years ago was so much more simpler, you didn't have to worry about the ads on TV or be brainwashed by the media, you could just enjoy the simple company of your family without the need of electronics to entertain you. You didn't need that expensive car, the plasma screen TV or the weekend getaways you went into debt for to make you happy. You were happy if you could just go out for a walk in the evening to watch the thunderstorms rolling in after a hard day of work, or sit by the fire with the family and a nice book. *Sigh* Boy have times changed!

The other night after much anticipation and care, I was able to harvest the first of my own crop just before dinner. It was so nice to just stop and pick the beans that had taken about 2 months to grow. It was so neat to plant the seeds, watch them germinate and finally grow into plants that could bear fruit.

I can't wait to see how the next batch will turn out!
